The Trend That Keeps on Giving

Rain, hail or shine… To the supermarket or the new hip bar with the cute waiter, what’s the one trend we all can’t live without? You guessed it, Denim. Since we were graced with the faded goodness in the 50’s, we have spent the past 6 decades thrashing the look like it’s going out of fashion; but it never has.

Though double denim dazzles the senses, paring jeans with some kick-ass accessories can be just as satisfying. If you’re ploughing for pennies this summer, (like me, at the embarrassing stage of picking up the 5¢ pieces I find on the floor) then hunt for those lucky old boots (let's pray they're metallic because that's the going trend), or that handbag stowed in the bag of your closet to revive your get-up this season.

Denim’s ‘former’ rebel sub-culture has made way for some creative trends to date; from flares to fringes, skinny to boyfriend, patchwork to holes and from double denim ensembles to peplum skirts. Denim is always in, but crazes change (a pair of skinny jeans just won’t do). So, if you’re itching to follow the trends this season, then I suggest you rummage through your overfilled cupboards to find that dark, selvedge denim that was probably your go to circa 2000. Take a peep at these runway looks to give you the inspiration you need to master your look.
